Berkeley Iceland Restoration Policy Initiative - Update 20 March

A quick note about the status of the Petition to set Policies for the Restoration of Berkeley Iceland. We are in a waiting period while our petition is reviewed by the Berkeley City Attorney who creates the official Title and Summary. This action must be done within 15 days of the notice we delivered to the City Clerk, meaning this should be ready by the end of this week. We will send out a note with the official wording when we have it.

Once the official wording is received, we can prepare the actual petition to be circulated. This petition will be reviewed by the City Clerk while official notice of the petition is published in a newspaper of record (Daily Cal, in this case). Following these steps, we will probably have actual petitions to sign before the end of March, which will give us about 6 weeks to collect about 3,000 Berkeley signatures needed to ensure the initiative qualifies for the November election.

Thank you to the folks who have volunteered to collect signatures - we will be in touch with you to take up the offers. We welcome everyone who would like to help - while only Berkeley registered voters can sign the petitions, any eligible California voter can help collect signatures.

Thank You to ALL our supporters - without you Berkeley Iceland would be permanently lost to us. Instead, we have the opportunity to return an important and needed resource to the community.
